Prep Your Skin For Fall

As we roll into September, the leaves on the trees start to change color and die, falling away to prepare for the winter hibernation. And you may have noticed a similar thing happening with your skin.

With school back in session, making your commute longer even if you don’t have kids, we thought we’d share a few quick tips to keep your skin looking just as good as it did this summer – maybe even better! Here’s how to prep your skin for fall:

Maintain your summer glow

You can probably figure out the first step of this one: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! That means drinking plenty of water to keep your skin supple and elastic.

Ironically, it also means taking shorter showers. Long hot showers and baths rinses away much of the body’s normal oils, making it more susceptible to drying out, cracking, and even becoming more easily infected.

Make sure you moisturize your skin at least once, preferably twice a day. One of my girlfriends keeps her LAFACE HPS and CRC right next to her toothbrush, so once she’s taken care of her teeth, she remembers to take care of her skin, too!

Prepare for the drier weather to come

As crisp as the air is now, it’s only going to get colder and drier. Get started now so you’re already ahead of the game when it comes to your skin.

Doctors recommend using a cream rather than a lotion as the air gets drier, so make sure you’re stocked up on our Cellular Regeneration Cream, perfect for this weather as well as the coming winter.

Don’t forget to exfoliate! While you don’t have to clear out those dead skin cells every day, you should have a regimen that incorporates the process a couple times a week, depending, of course, on your skin type and sensitivity. Apply our Hydrating and Purifying Serum immediately after to help your skin produce natural moisturizers and begin healing.

If you have particularly dry skin, you can even use a humidifier at home or work to literally keep extra moisture in the air.

It’s (still) all about SPF

Even though it’s getting a little cooler and we’re not seeing the sun quite as much as the year starts to wind down, remember, it’s still out there. There’s never a time when you shouldn’t wear the proper sunscreen to keep your skin adequately protected.

In fact, sometimes shady days are when you’re most vulnerable, because you can’t see the sun, but its UV rays are definitely hitting you. Especially as the leaves fall from the trees, there’s less natural protection from the harsh radiation that breaks down your skin.

The clothes help make the woman

Just because you can’t wear white after Labor Day (is that still a rule?), that doesn’t mean you have to wander around in sackcloth or grey robes like some depressed post-apocalyptic movie princess searching for herself.

Wearing bright, fun color combos can accentuate your skin’s natural beauty and bring a little more joy into the world. Don’t be afraid to be bold with your well-cared for skin and show it off with pizzazz!

We hope our tips help prep you and your skin for fall!
